Skimble ponders if good food is worth death?

The Menu…And a Call For More Streaming

December 6, 2022

Cool Movies Darth thinks it was quite appropriate that he had to endure 20 minutes of technical difficulties to watch "The Menu". Surviving the experience was very similar to seeing if Ralph Fiennes was serious about killing everyone at the conclusion of the meal. That is a bit of hyperbole, but it really nails down why the cinema experience might be overrated. Fortunately, enduring the ordeal was worthwhile, and CM Darth would like to try and sell you on checking this flick out.

Allow me to get out of third-person. Happy Prof. Shurtleff of Illinois Central College? I (CM Darth) will try not to make so much light of violent death in this summation. This is my declaration of changing perspective.

I went to the cinema to see a John Leguizamo film. With the holiday season, "Violent Night", the Santa as John McClane picture, seemed appropriate, but the runtime was 1:52. 12 minutes of credits seemed to be unlikely, so I chose "The Menu" with its 1:47 runtime. If there was not a stinger after the credits, it might qualify for the podcast (My math says it does.). Without a guest for the show like I had hoped, covering a current film in theaters is the best I could offer to make up for two weeks of me carrying the show.

With that said, I have determined that I just need to find a cohost for two weeks of the month. There will be invitations sent out to people I have had on the show that I think fit my attitudes. If you want to apply, send an email to russthebus07@gmail.com. We could do both recordings in one night. The only issue with that is that I will be more shitfaced than usual.

The best thing about this proposition is that I will not expect you to put any money down to see movies at the cinema. No one should need to be stuck in a cinema when a power surge occurs while they are trying to determine if a film's narrative concludes in 100-minutes. Unless there is a complete power outage in a neighborhood, a reboot of the modem should not take that long to get back to your movie.

On top of that, iTunes, Disney+, and Prime Video keep track of the time during a feature. No one should deal with the cinematic hypocrisy of not shutting your phone off because you need to let the stop watch run to make sure the movie qualifies for this show. It is a rule I hate breaking. Hell, I go to the cinema to have a reason to shut off my phone.

So, yes. I will be ripping into the multiplex where this experience occurred. The power surge knocked out all the screens. As I said, it took 20 minutes to resolve, but I was stuck in a theater with Central Illinois residents. There is nothing worst than Podunk people complaining. They even shot down a well formed joke (from myself) about how we should not be so pissy.

So it may not be the cinema staff that is telling me to abandon the cinema experience. It may not be the pretention of Christopher Nolan saying movies need to be seen on the big screen when we all know that your narrative needs special effects and gimmicks to cover up its flaws. It is the people in the cinemas being rude and unappreciative of the film and the people trying to provide you the experience.

If anything, this inspires me to further bust my ass to make money. I need my own dedicated cinema room. Space for a 166" inch screen maybe all I really want out of life.

Pardon me for not taking the time to sell "The Menu" in this blog post. It is a film where you anticipate a grand ending. This film delivers and was worth $20 instead of waiting for it on Hulu. I just want to do my best to not to spoil it. Dare I say, I might be a little bit like Nicholas Hoult's foodie character. To say anymore, would be a spoiler.

And hopefully this episode is not spoiled. To hedge my bet, I have got a two-minute conversation with my big sister, ThePoeticCritic, to discuss an early slasher movie "Silent Night, Bloody Night". It is fun to see her embrace the low budget, early Cannon work, but should she have had that much fun? We discuss.

Follow me on Twitter @catbusruss. If you want to be on the show, contact me on Twitter or send an email to russthebus07@gmail.com. All we need is a theme, movie, director, or actor and a focus on sub 100-minute material. As long as the credits start before the 1:39:59 mark on the runtime bar, the movie qualifies.

Imagine We Still Had VHS: Burn-Up W (and Burn Up Morton, IL)

*This blog post was started on September 16, 2022.

It is actually getting late for me this Friday. As always, I air fry some wings to watch "AEW Rampage". When I have to be back at the retailer at 7:30 am, a 10 pm stop time means that I would be wise to hit the bong and call it a night. But my belly is just settling down by then.

Again, time management is not my strongest skill. Groceries and a haircut came after work and I cleaned up my apartment a bit, but aside from getting my My Faction award for today from "WWE 2K22", it feels that I just lost three hours. That is kind of depressing. This leaves me wondering if I will be able to type out a well written review for 1996's "Burn Up W".

Granted, "Burn Up W" was one of my first favorite anime series when I first got nerdy about this style of animation. The first volume (This was a 30-35 minute OVA series released one episode at a time), "Skin Dive" was a great entry point to capture my fellow Morton High School classmates curiosity. Too bad they were sex-driven teenagers. I showed them "Neon Genesis Evangelion" afterwards, but that somehow did not grab their attention.

After watching "Clerks 3" this past Tuesday, my disdain for the town keeps amassing. Thank the gods that the town cannot possibly have a social gathering on Sundays.

Fucking Apostolic Christians. This faith is kind of for wusses. They make their women cover all of their legs with skirts, but why the ladies allow for that is beyond me. Show me an Apostolic suicide bomber, and I may take them seriously. When I shout all that, it does not surprise me that half of my friends were treating anime like issues of "Playboy". It was a dirty window into another world. They were not interested in philosophy. Why question the dominant faith in a town where most of them were in the one-percent?

Despite my mocking of these "good" Christians, ironically the town's traditions means that I will miss the Pumpkin Festival when I return Sunday to pick up my replacement Apple Watch. The theme was a tribute to the 1980's. If you do not have VH-1's budget, do not try it. For fuck sake, it will probably be a Reagan circle jerk and calls to vote for the women-hating fascist Darren Bailey.

If a town made for the one percent wants to celebrate the Eighties, cocaine better have been flowing through the streets the last three days. At least do one thing right.

And I thought I was not going to be able to give you any insight into my mind this week. Just thinking about how the town does not appreciate art brings it out of me. Aside from not appreciating art, they do not appreciate their fellow man. Thus, why "Clerks 3" further hurt me. A village came to make Kevin Smith's a name in indie cinema, but fuck Russ Stevens and his dreams. If they are not about encouraging the importance of lessons about states' rights in the 1860's, they are worthless.

Now I think my vitriol about my hometown is seemingly obsessive. There was an easier transition to my thoughts about the adventures of Tokyo City's premier, all-female police strike force. In high school, I had developed a third anime website dedicated to kick ass, overly sexualized women. There was nothing too crazy about the "Iria: Zeiram the Animation" side of it, but when it came to "Burn Up W", I had Duran Duran midis playing in the background that were dedicated to each episode. The main protagonist is named Rio after all.

Pardon me for just focusing on the best things about the decade of my birth instead of how my hometown will fuck that up.

Burn Up W (Warrior): Volumes 1 & 2

*This blog post was resumed on September 17, 2022.

I am still pretty exhausted. By the time I finished the intro last night, sleep was necessary. Today, my energy has been zapped by the work day and then arguing with customer service over my Apple Watch that is seemingly just going to be written off by the seller.

There could have been better precautions taken by me in this concern (I had opportunities to be aware that somehow, the seller decided to send it to a previous address.), but to be told that they are just going to cancel my order instead of re-sending it when they get it back from UPS was a bit much. They are no longer going to carry the item, so they are not going to take care of me.

Well, the company asked for me to trust them with a resolution, which I was not, as a response for me demanding to speak to a supervisor after the agent responded to my solution (re-send the watch that is coming back to them) with, "Why should we do that?" You do not get to say why should we help you when we are going to give you your money back. In 20 years in the field, I have never asked why I should help.

I do not need to head into 36 hours of downtime with that on my mind. Lets hope talking about the anime will leave a better taste in my mouth.

Twitchy’s Anime Rocking Chair – Burn Up W!
Twitchy’s Anime Rocking Chair – Burn Up W!
Burn Up W (Warrior): Episode 1 & 2
(For real this time).

Rio is a frustrated cop working in the homicide division. Her impulsive spending has left her considering selling her used underwear to stave off an army of debt collectors. Things would be easier if there were more opportunities for the Tokyo City Police's Warrior strike force to see action. Too bad the circumstances that would require the team of Rio, the impatient sniper Maya, the kawaii computer hacker Lilica, and the advanced weapons developer Nanvel are few and far between.

That is until the Tokyo Hotel Kingdom is taken over by terrorists. The motivation is to bring the city to its knees since the venue was hosting an international conference. What they want in exchange for the VIP's safeties: the manager of the Tokyo Giants to prostrate himself for his team's performance, to add the word "Final" to the title of the latest sequel to the hottest video game, destroy all of the surfboards at Shona Beach, and for the top pop idol to perform a nude bungee jump from the top of the hotel. To avoid an international incident, the Warrior team is better suited option when compared totrying storm the building with a swat team.

Maki, the team's leader, finds this not to be much of a challenge, so it must be hiding something truly sinister. She may not know what is going on, but her intuition is correct. The assault is a cover by an organization to gain an audience with the diplomats to present them with a virtual drug. Their efforts are to make their illegal activities palatable for eventual legalization. Until that day, they intend to create a criminal underworld that they can control with their advanced technologies.

So the Warrior team best save the day with their unconventional methods, because an enemy may have finally stepped up that would require their particular set of skills.

"Burn Up W" should be considered an easy to sell concept. It is juvenile humor with action that I do not think live-action media has successfully captured.  The closest thing to it would be the "Deadpool" cinematic franchise, but without the fourth wall breaking.

I guess you can say it is closer to "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu" in tone (at least for the first two episodes) as our heroines take on the bad lads and lasses. The action is fine, but incorporating fan service is what keeps the audience involved. It differentiates itself from the feature I compared it to by using big boobs and firm butts as the Easter eggs we are looking for instead of cute, super-powered fictional animals. Ryan Reynolds was obviously not involved with this, but you would expect Van Wilder to be showing this at college parties.

Obviously, I have seen the complete series numerous times. There are only four episodes. What is fun about that is that you see the evolution of the series artistically. "Skin Dive" is great looking trash cinema, which it had to be to allow for further episodes. The animation and character designs are not necessarily innovative, but drawn to perfection. Add in all of the standard manga tropes and cutaways and close it with a great theme song (I am partial to anything with an English title like "Martian Successor Nadesico's" "You Get to Burning".), the audience will definitely want more. Of course that is provided you are not prudish when it comes to nude sports.

The second episode, "Search for the Virtual Idol", seems like it was not green lit until after the success of the first. This is where you see the short cuts. Its story of finding a virtual idol who has been coerced by the bad guys to enter the real world via an android body is far more convoluted thus not as solid as the predecessor. Fun can still be had, but it over complicates the premise and appears rushed.

There was no opening credits sequence in the first episode. Since the series is moving forward, one was needed from this point forward. The producers decided to release this before it was completed, so you get a mix between the car chase they wanted to sell newcomers on with out of context scenes from "Skin Dive". By the third episode, it was completed, but then you get a tonal shift halfway through that volume. This means the series maybe selling the uninitiated a false bag of goods.

With the work in progress nature of the "Search for the Virtual Idol", the animation and colors do not look as good as the first episode. Again, by episode three, all is corrected. But, if you come in at episode two, I could see the viewer enjoying the show, but they will not be ready to throw $25 down for the next episode. Unless the viewer is intrigued to see what anime they lampoon next. This episode pays a lot of tribute to "Neon Genesis Evangelion". What series will they go after in episode three (I did not notice anything in particular, but I am not the otaku that I once was.).

In the age of DVD box sets, "Burn-Up W" is a rewarding series. It is the best blend of action and dirty humor that I can recall.

Stateside, the way the series is put together, I do not see it being a sure fire success by selling one episode at a time. But with DVD holding six hours a disc, you are left disappointed that the series concludes in four volumes. Fortunately, there are at least two spin of television series, so you can always get a hit of what Rio and company are offering, if streaming services allow.

The Doorman - Die Hard with Girl Power and a Norwegian Knock Off Bill Burr

*Blog post started on October 27, 2020.

My prior vacation day, I felt I was clinging to my past. This most recent one(s), old is how I feel.

With a three-day weekend, I think I got a lot accomplished. There is a new tattoo. Peoria bars were fun with genuine interactions, and I made it to more of them than usual. I paid my respect to Stacia Marie Hardin and discovered a cool block of shops in Pekin. Who would not call the last Co Op records in the Heart of Illinois being located by a thrift shop and a used bookstore operated by TAPS No Kill Shelter (featuring kittens and a polydactyl cats) a little slice of heaven in a town whose mascot was once the Chink? To the town's credit, the appropriation of the dragon into their municipal logos is cool.

I spent time with my folks with only the hourly mention of Hunter Biden's emails. Perhaps I should have spent the night and watch the Michigan State game, but a day where I did not leave my apartment and caught a lot of Pokemon was good (It was "Pokemon Let's Go Eevee". Perhaps the games are becoming to expansive. 20 hours of story is all you really need.). Sunday I was back at the retailer, but with a Redbox $0.75 off coupon and groceries to grab. With NinetyForChill.com back in working order, a review of "The Doorman" at 1 hour 37 minutes would be perfect content. Too bad I called it an early night. Catching up with the G1 Climax finals led to me being exhausted. This obviously felt odd since I did nothing extraneous on Saturday.

Since I will end up at some point putting out an abridged version of this post, let me fill up some space.  Thanks Redbox for the reasonable Blu-ray rental price and the inflated DVD rental fees. We as a society need to rid ourselves of standard def. Screw those who hate change. There is a good chance they will further ruin the country in a week. Let me have this.

Did I over exert myself taking a chest freezer out to a customer's car? Was the replacement air fryer too much work to move as I nearly lost it when I walked into a security pylon? The amount groceries I took home was less than usual.

This left me with a dilemma. I had a movie to watch and I would not be back from the bank until 6:15 pm. There was still dinner to make. So apologies for rushing through about five minutes of this Ruby Rose feature. The feeling of victory getting it back to an appropriate vending machine with 10 minutes to spare warrants this action. And it at least gave me some good vibes from this film.

"Logan Lucky" and the Validity that the likes @realBenDavila, @proundgrandpa00 Wish They Had.

*Blog post started on October 8, 2020.

A part of me thinks I should just be taking the time before this shift ends to catch up on "The Ringer". Outside of myself, I do not know if I really have anything to draw people into a blog. There are plenty of 90 to 120-second YouTube videos I could share in this blog, but I would rather a blog be about writing. That is despite the feedback that people are liking the videos.

It all seems to be based around the video for my review of Ron Perlman versus Vinnie Jones (and other British actors that producer Perlman wanted to act against) film "The Big Ugly". I looked at the number of views, and it seems that I have heard directly from everyone who has watched it. This means that at least my friends can tolerate me. When I compare it to the clicks that the blog post has been getting, perhaps my face is a turn off and they are either just skipping to the text or turning away immediately after the visit.

If the latter is the case, it may mean that all of Twitter's cowardly, conservative cocksuckers are right when they just resort to calling me ugly. Of course, these assholes do not have the nerve to post any media of themselves. Perhaps the following are just bots with the most juvenile insults:

  • @Deleno12
  • @DvAnon2
  • @TRUMPMOMENTS411
  • @RyuDarth
  • @teenytinytrout
  • @cfufreedom
  • @thomasc07497394
  • @grudziar
  • @Maranatha4
  • @middletheroad

I have yet to check what they think of my latest thread via @catbusruss and @maineventzombie.

Every #President has had a #pet except for #Trump, or so I thought. Does someone want to inform #barontrump his dad doesn't consider him human?

Explains how @DonaldJTrumpJr and @EricTrump turned out the way they did.

And the general consensus from these twats, "It is a fake account."

It leaves me thinking back to the quote from Mr. Winston Wolf in "Pulp Fiction":

Just because you are a character does not mean you have character.

I guess that kind of defines my state of mind. After a vacation day on Tuesday and spending too much money at Big Al's, a gentleman's club I have been going to for 19 years, a revelation that I have to step away from my past finally settled in. It makes me think that I should shut down my Facebook account, but that is half of my promotion.

I do not think I am trying to hold on to the past like most of Morton High School's Classes of 1998 and 1999 who are still living in the town, but when you do not have many friends, you go to familiar places. It is not like I cannot keep this game up of fornicating with dancers (It seems I still can.), but I am not living there anymore. There maybe fun to be had, but I cannot stick around to develop friendships. Anyhow, Peoria is in my past because it had long given up on me anyhow.

Now I am in Champaign/Urbana, and I have yet to really establish any strong relationships to grow around. Another stop on my trip this week was to visit Stacia Hardin's grave, my best friend whose life thrust adulthood upon me. It is in the middle of nowhere, South Pekin. I guess I have a lay of the land from my time transporting high school drop out and delinquent wrestlers from all sides of the town to Next Generation Wrestling shows. Regardless, no one should really know Pekin layout that well.

Stacia was the first person to have ever believed in me since I was considered an adult. Addiction defeated her but she made it a point to not let it hurt me. I cannot say that about the other addicts in my life. They definitely did not put faith in me despite me offering it to them. The self destructive friends believed in me, but those tendencies got the better of them. It seems they have gotten back on their feet (FYR!), but being from that portion of their past, they will not allow me to be part of their present despite I know how not to fuck up.

This leads us to my latest ex who I chose to end the romance with. It does not matter if she believes/believed in me because she has to get on her own feet. The problem with the relationship was I was trying to do that for her.

When I moved down here, the dating scene was great to start, and I settled into a relationship about a month in. Now, yes there is the pandemic, but it has all been just flirting on apps. I suppose some people like the boundaries it gives them. For me, it seems like no one wants to take risks or they just get off on people admiring them. Do I want to only be a concept?

Now those YouTube videos make me feel less real.

I guess I am just looking for someone to take a chance on me and have a little faith that I can amount to something. My pro-wrestling zom-com script "Main Event of the Dead" is still in development hell (If you have any advice or want a treatment of the script, send an email to russthebus07@gmail.com), so blogging does not seem to work. Morons on Twitter think those who tell them they are assholes just claim the accuser is fake like the news. If only we could have a civil dialogue, at least we would need to be real. Outside my creative output, there does not seem to be a way for me to matter.

The only comfort is that the last two presidential cats had lived nearly 20 years. That mean I get eight more years of Eva...unless Socks survived because he got the best medical treatment at Walter Reed.

Fuck Medicaid. Socialized veterinary medicine is what we all need.

Toxicity and Mark Dacascos in "One Night in Bangkok"

*Blog post started on September 16, 2020.

Does work set you free? I am in the midst of a 12-day stint between both my banking and retail jobs, and I will say that there is not much on my mind because of it. The only stress is not being liquid right now and that HostGator decided to collect on the MainEventOfTheDead.com domain. The Sonic hot dog lunch yesterday and the Garcia's Pizza in a Pan Monday meal tasted far too good. Of course that taking up my remaining checking accounts' funds would come at a greater price.

With the apparent lack of interest in exploring my zombie pro-wrestling script, "Main Event of the Dead", (If this comedic B-Movie idea sounds interesting, request a treatment of the script by emailing russthebus07@gmail.com. I would also be happy to take advice on how to get this project out of development hell.), you think the wise thing would be to just let the renewal pass. But, the domain hosts my memorial to the best person I ever knew, Stacia Marie Hardin, which is still near the top of the Google search, so I cannot afford to lose that. If anything, I am more angry at myself for not tweeting out the link to pass on my numerous Twitter accounts on the 16th anniversary of her death to further promote her legacy.

I have already worked out how I will replenish my checking account to take care of my website expense. It just sucks saying goodbye to an NES Zapper that had some nostalgic value. When are we going to get "Duck Hunt" on the Nintendo Switch? That would be a better buy than "Super Mario 35".

The only nonwork related stuff that has occurred otherwise is the Red Box movies I rented and installing a bidet. Because I am a generous guy, if I leave my current apartment, I may just keep that installed. It was not expensive ($30) and the cleansing feeling is superb. We need to make this the norm in this country. Oh how great it feels to be a true patriot.

With that said, I also decided to cut ties with another narcissistic asshole from Morton. He decided to argue that if we defund the police, we should defund the murders at Planned Parenthood. This was based on a Tweet from @papa_kelp via Slay by Mic on Facebook that I shared. I replied to justify my opinion, and then he decided that he had to prove me wrong, which he opened with this is not about his opinions about abortion just the need to stand up for blue lives.

It eventually lead to his narrative about how Michael Brown deserved to get shot, how 70% of police fatalities are because the victim resisted arrest, and the alleged beatings (The guy was the biggest insecure twat of Morton High School's class of 1999 which goes all the way back at least fourth grade. Do I need to give more clues to my hometown readers?) he gave to people that stole from Macy's during his time in loss prevention. I suggested that he might be an asshole for thinking his views that warrant summary executions and that the system need not be changed.

So why did I unfriend him when I try to troll the conservative sociopaths on Twitter? It is because this wuss was a part of the past that I chose to leave. Conservative pricks on Twitter are trying to influence the future. Trying to ruin their social media presence can help the greater good.

You cannot look back in anger. I know I should not. If anything I am just upset with myself for even letting him be my friend to begin with. As that observation was being typed, I realized why it was okay to be a good guy to him. If I did not try to shape him into being a better person, would he have survived. If no one cared, he would have no one to exploit thus no means to be good or alive.

The most important thing to remember is that you are going to fail, but I am not the failure. I am hoping that he realizes that he is the failure, and then work his way into becoming a compassionate person and get over his inferiority complex.

Perhaps, that is big of me to state. Losing a friend who lives 80 miles away may not mean much to him. He is a car salesman, so with his nature going into the profession that encourages it will be tough to change from. Here is to hoping other people realize how this guy needs to change, but we cannot help him. We got to leave him to his own device. 40 years is enough anyhow.

The AWESOME Disgruntled's Real Secondary Champion: Part 6

*Blog post started on August 10, 2020.

Perhaps three post a week is too much. It is catching up to my output. On top of that, NinetyForChill.com (Should I go and sit on that Twitter handle?), officially has more blog posts than MainEventoftheDead.com, my primary blog that is meant to encourage assistance with the production of my zombie versus indie wrestler script (If you would like to see a treatment or offer ideas on how to get this project out of development hell, drop me an email at russthebus07@gmail.com).

This means that I will need to slowdown my viewing of "crappy" sub 138-minute flicks. I guess I have my anime expertise to fall back on and plenty of cartoons to watch, but change is hard. With anime being put out in season box sets, it will be easier to lose track of time. Nine to five (six) is my lifestyle now. Those all nighters would be ill-advised.

Things may slow down for me with my vacation next week. Checking out the old stomping grounds, my favorite bars included, should take up so much time, it will just be best to say, "Damn. Guess I will save those posts for next time." That will work, unless I throw in a fight with online trolls who suggest I leave the country, believe that the amendments after 10 did not change the Constitution, and/or are Islamophobic.

Trying to be a bit healthier before my doctor's appointment tomorrow has left me going to bed early opposed to snacking and watching TV. Meaning if I get into a Twitter beef, there goes an evening. It will all be worth it when they willfully silence themselves by blocking me.

There are better victories to be had I know, but having just returned from my appointment with a lot to work on, this fight might be the only thing to keep food from my mouth. A better solution would be to take my writing home. The "doctor" (PA) suggested journaling, but my thoughts for the most part deserve to be heard, hence blogged.

It can add to my frustration since I have to do my damnedest to creatively identify someone as an asshole (who is not an conservative troll) without dropping their name. With that said, I might just have to refer to myself only by gimmick last name so when I break big, no one will track down Ma and Pa Stevens to tell them what was said about them. All that can be said about the appointment is the PA noticing I am stressed the fuck out.

There is no time to be stressed right now. If I want to relax and be forgetful next week, we got to get these blogs in the archive. With only six years left, lets return to my current distraction, the Disgruntled's Real Five-Star Championship.

The 121st Disgruntled's Real Five-Star Champion:(Intercontinental/United States/Philadelphia TV/Baltimore TV/X Division)

TNA X Division Champion SANADA (April 4, 2014 to July 10, 2014)
ROH slipped up when it came to booking Jay Lethal's second reign as TV champion. Lethal would eventually go on to win the World Championship. He would defend each title separately and subsequently lost the TV championship first. It leaves me feeling like the TV championship was just an afterthought.

SANADA would eventually lose the championship to Austin Aries who would surrender it to challenge for TNA's primary championship.

It is all a question of psychology I suppose. Can you build up a title only to let it slip and deem it unimportant when champion also holds a larger title? Or, do you distinguish that it is not equal to the world title but essential to becoming THE champion?

Peoria Wise and a 90 min. Exception "Zombieland: Double Tap".

*Blog post started on June 25, 2020.

I might be making this post too difficult. After starting up "The Disgruntled's Real Championship Wrestling" blog, a schedule of when certain posts were supposed to be released was established. So some my personal opinions timeline is going to involve a bit of shuffling. The biggest fear, the topical stuff will not be that in the next two weeks.

…five minutes later.

#SpeakingOut is still coming up on Wrestling Inc. headlines, so I can be optimistic that the attitude about the scene will not change. Ring of Honor says they are going to address the sexual assault accusation brought up against one of their head bookers. They said they will investigate it, but with Jay Lethal still being on the roster despite his indiscretions, if action is taken, I will have material to continue blogging about the movement. This schedule though leaves me behind in terms of addressing the movement, when I could feel like I was amongst the first.

So far, 40 has shown how far behind I have been. I have attempted to be a voice against racism ("Racism Can Play in Peoria. What About Your Local Wrestling"), but it took me another five years to attend my first protest. Tomorrow is going to be the first time that I have ever given blood. Being afraid of needles gave me an excuse for 23 years, but after my wrist and inevitable reign over Peoria wrestling was broken, that is not the case. When you see pins with pus leaking from them in your arm, you will rationalize how you handle other pointy metal things being inserted into your body.

Another first for 40 that involves insertion would be a prostate exam. A parental freak out about a dermatitis breakout left OSF realizing that I may have been trying to avoid attentive medical care. I figured I could slip past the system for a year since my last labs, but they are going to get on me about actually finding a practitioner now. The biggest issue is going back to the beginning when it comes to my type two diabetes concerns.

They were probably right in doing whatever labs they could, but the circumstances were not fair. I was in Morton when this went down, so of course I was eating shit during that 90-minute drive. Obviously blood sugars were high, and based on that, it is back to the beginning about caring for my condition. With the exception of my last doctor, everybody forces me to endure the lecture about the need to focus on vegetables and laying off the booze. Unless they are going to give me a medicinal marijuana card, nothing will change. Give me a card, and half of the conditions might.

The following is a suggestion to encourage men of my age to care about their health and cancer concerns. Reward those who need to deal with a prostate exam the medical weed card. I think the doctors would be surprised to find out what we will do for drugs. Granted, the exam no longer intimidates me, but that is some personal stuff you probably do not want me to get into.

With all the firsts I am dealing with, it is indeed ironic that my best received blog was "40 Years is Enough". In the end, I am just like Peoria, always 10 years behind. At least my love for the hometown is now established. It just sucks to realize that I am socially retarded. How many wise, leftist women have been pitying me?

90-min. Prime Video: "Forbidden World" Away from the Bernie Bros

*Blog started on April 11, 2020.

News is still centered around the pandemic, so despite my shortened work days, it has not been overly difficult to catch up on the news websites. Last night, I tried to distract myself from going after the #NeverTrumpNeverBiden movement to attack the first three conservative Twitter users who went after Reprentative Ilhan Omar for trying to catch the nation up with the rest of the Western World. The social media platform maybe too diluted now because it use to be when I would attack hashtags (not users) like #PatriotsUnited, #Trump, #Jesus, I received a lot of hate for it. Now, these cunts are just ignoring it. It must be all about your follower count I suppose.

Too bad this blog is going to conclude with a movie review. It seemed fitting to find a place to start listing the names and profile information of the deplorables I found in every blog post. Then again, that might just encourage people to continue being the worst the United States has to offer who are not an offspring of Donald Trump whos life revolves around kissing Daddy's ass. I am calling you out Baron.

Maybe I have lost some of my passion for politics. Acquaintances from Morton are sharing and reacting positively to my Facebook posts. What does it take to get unfollowed? I guess my tolerance for bullshit is gone. This week has led me to unfollow anyone implying that they are not going to vote for Joe Biden.

It all ends up being a conspiracy by the baby boomers. Millennials were given everything growing up, so they feel entitled. Thus, they need to get their way or no one gets their way. Their parents were playing the long game. Be pushed around and underappreciated by your crotch fruit so that these twats feel like the world owes them just as much as you. Hillary Clinton fairly beat Bernie Sanders, so they voted against all of their interests instead of protecting some of them via Jill Stein or Donald Trump.

Sadly, they seem to be idiots who Sanders' free education would be wasted on. These kids are acting like they have not learned and will burn this current world down by letting Trump win again. The tactic this time is probably skipping the polls which would be worse than voting for a third party. If we can at least win the Senate, Trump would be effectively powerless and Ruth Baders Ginsburg could finally relax.

The rode to hell is paved with good intentions. How else did you expect me to transition this rant to a Roger Corman movie? He knew that we needed "Alien" and "Star Wars" to feature over-the-top gore and female nudity, but what we got was a cinematic purgatory in "Forbidden World.

Forbidden World (1982)

Being awoken to battle some space pirates, Troubleshooter Mike Colby's robot custodian SAM-104 advises him that he has received a new assignment. The two are to head to planet Xarbia to contain a research experiment that may have gone wrong or horrendously right. Dr. Hauser and his team have been trying to develop a new food source to solve all galactic hunger concerns by creating organisms with Proto-B DNA. It seems a noble cause, but because it is playing God, they are isolated on this deep space planet.

This new DNA's metamorphic nature puts into question who is actually playing the all mighty on high. The latest mutation decided to kill all of other test subjects before cocooning itself in the lab. Its violent nature leaves Colby believing that it needs to be terminated, but Hauser and his primary assistants want to see how this plays out...even after it attacks the janitor and escapes the lab.

Technically, the cleaning guy is still alive, just dissolving into protein with a pulse. That sounds like a fate worse than death, so the majority of the crew is ready to side with Colby's intentions. The minority seems a little to eager to further study the events, so everyone will eventually be on the same page, but will they have enough numbers to battle the large-toothed, intelligent insectoid that it has become?

Roger Corman's importance to cinema should make his last name an entry in the Oxford Dictionary. Aside that word should be the primary poster for "Forbidden World". It tells you the film knows what you want, but this is still a deal with the devil.

A few months ago, I had watched the Corman-produced "Galaxy of Terror". It was entertaining enough despite a haphazard story, so I expected this feature to be the same. Aside from the reuse of James Cameron designed sets and overall tackiness, this film lacks the originality of its predecessor, and once we witness the space dog fight (from Corman-produced "Battle Beyond the Starts") and concept of hypersleep, you know you are just settling into a cheap knock off of the biggest sci-fi of the time.

The acting is hindered by everyone trying to be either hip or sexy, with our male cast focusing on being David Carradine hot, so it feels like 2000's indie wrestling. Its special effects are all around laughable with an Ed Wood equivalent monster as the villain and a robot that just misses the mark. There are some good gore effects too start, but it all just becomes a mess of red and transparent gelatin by the end of the flick.

Despite all of its flaws, it does show the beauty of a good Corman production. In trying to differentiate itself from what it is ripping off, possible inspiration for classic films are present. The monster's development is very much like 1995's metamorphic alien film "Species", and the demise of the beast is very similar to the end of "Species 2". It attempts to improve on some of the sequences from "Alien", which you have to applaud the effort, and in turn offers up devices that may have been used in that film's sequels.

If anything beyond the production values can be said to have aged poorly, it is all the female nudity, but I can defend that. "Game of Thrones" first season is classic television and it shows us that sexposition is still a valid storytelling device.

With some Clark & Sheffield Vodka, Kahlua and Meijer's brand Italian Sweet Crème Coffee Creamer, "Forbidden World" was a fun experience. If you can talk some friends into watching it with you, there are few better celebrations of mediocrity. This is not art, but you will not feel dirty seeing classic films being subverted and perverted. You can accept that is just part of the deal if a flick has been labeled a Roger Corman Cult Classic.
