Bonus: #GalaxyConSTL - Cosplay Guest Who, Movie Panels, "Supergirl" (2026)
CatBusRuss has returned to the Gateway City with ThePoeticCritic in tow for GalaxyCon St. Louis 2: Electric Boogaloo (Per TPC). The two came down to Eastern Missouri to offer up the "1986: RAD Movies or Bad Movies", but with only one panel to present, what else did they get up to to make the weekend worthwhile?
For them, the big event will be a "Muppet Treasure Island" screening featuring live commentary from Kermit's performer, Steve Whitmire. The older sibling of the two has probably got her Saturday figured out until the screening while Russ is playing things by ear. This is probably how the brother and sister's planned to utilize the time before presenting a new take on the 1986 panel. How did that workout for the first day of the con?
For the CatBus, he checked out "It's a Movie Game Show" before his panel. The host, comedian Tyler Wood, immediately knew not to bring up the resident cinephile as a contestant until time was needed to kill. St. Louis may not have as many movie historians as he expected, so Russ did get a time to wipe the floor with another con goer in a game that was like the Rob Lowe hosted "The Floor". What was the topic?
And speaking of "The Floor", after his panel and the purchasing of a cool "Labyrinth" t-shirt from Rob Reep Art, CatBusRuss checked out the "Bad Cinema: The Top Ten Best of the Worst" panel hosted by legendary cartoonist, historian, and current contestant on the Fox game show, Joe Wos. The podcaster saw this panel at Wizard Wold 2019, and they both agreed it may need to be shaken up. Just do not expect him to bring up "Foodfight!", a feature that exploits his creation, Charlie the Tuna. It is a panel about fun bad movies, not the irredeemable.
As for ThePoeticCritic, it seemed to be all about cosplay. She attended a "Guess Who?" inspired cosplay game before revisiting 40 year-old cinema. Afterwards, it was onto the cosplay-for-all pageant. Was she taking notes on how to upgrade her game to the pro-am level?
May Russ suggest "Supergirl" for her big sister to try out? She could pass for Kara's dying mother at the very least. (TPC is a Triumph: The Insult Comic, so she should let the joke fly.)
With the release of "Clayface" this weekend, our host was happy that his friend Kelli chose to make the second film in James Gunn's DCU a watch. Did we need the downer origin tale? No. But if there is any legitimate hate towards the film, it is from those inflicted with misogyny.
"I Dig Crazy Flicks's" theme is "8bit Tournament" by Oblio. Find it on PremiumBeat.com V3C9QSF6F62HWWWR
