MEGA Podcast: Stealing Harvard, Spaceballs, and Podbean’s Darkside

Tuesday Feb 28, 2023

This is a case of CatBusRuss trying to make chicken salad from chicken waste. Between starting a second job and his scheduled recording falling through at the last minute, he did not have a way to line up a new guest. But, with Podbean only allowing a hundred episodes to show up on the top podcast apps, there is a fear that some of the past episodes will be lost when/if the podcast changes platforms. We cannot lose our only episodes (thus far) with JD Greving of JDHD and Jessica Kwazz from "2nd Chance Movies". Thus, welcome to the Stealing Harvard (2002) and Spaceballs (1987) mega episode. It also features NinetyForChill legend ThePoeticCritic.

Allow me to get out of third-person. Happy Prof. Shurtleff of Illinois Central College? I (CM Darth) will try not to make so much light of violent death in this summation. This is my declaration of changing perspective.

I am still trying to adjust to the two-job schedule. On top of that, it looks like trying to format this blog on my Chromebook is further torture. One can appreciate that this computer was designed by guys who love Linux, but I am 20 years removed from my prime HTML coding.

This leads to further disdain for Marine Bank leaving me with a meager $300 tax refund. If I was not canned by a vindictive Karen, Marissa Embry, who found a better job, but felt that leaving without trying to ruin my life would not be worth it. Fingerhut's on this markup Mediatek powered device would be something I could have avoided.

And now I could go into work shopping a parody of The Cure's "Killing an Arab", but my new job might frown on that. They may be fine with the idea, but they cannot have customers in Downstate Illinois recognizing this snowflake. Or can they with the product we sell? This is a dangerous rabbit hole, and I need more guests on this show to distract me from ranting about why I have two jobs.

Sundays are the only day that I am certain can be made for podcasting. With that said, if you have a movie or topic that you want to chat about, send an email to russthebus07@gmail.com.

On top of fiscal stresses, I have the drama of needing to move on to a new podcast distributor. Podbean has a great app to record podcasts on, but that is about it. The support team is fine, but support is not someone I should need to address.

Right now, I do not want to give Podbean more money to ensure that all my recordings are going to be featured on Apple, Google, and Spotify's feeds. The move could backfire, but you need to provide better service to discourage this. And not suggest conservative bullshit to listen to. If the app store can offer me fine suggestions, so should you. What else are cookies for.

It is going to be weird for the next few weeks for the show. Maybe I will just bank episodes until the transition is completed. I am thinking about keeping the feed alive with more "MEGA" episodes like this one. In other words, Podbean was going to take my "Stealing Harvard" and "Spaceballs" episodes off the feed next. Jessica Kwaz and JD Greving are guests I would like to have on again, so they shall not be forgotten.

On top of that, can this show ever get enough of ThePoeticCritic. Judging that her Twitter friends have yet to show support on the social media, the answer may be no. But denial is not only a river in Egypt.

And now I wish that I did not leave this blog with a trailer for Mel Brook's classic "Spaceballs". The comb the desert clip is always near the top of the YouTube algorithm.

Despite Podbean dropping the ball, the MP3's are always going to be under my MainEventOfTheDead.com domain. And of course, there are always the original blog posts. If you do not have three and a half hours, visit the links below:

Follow me on Twitter @catbusruss. If you want to be on the show, contact me on Twitter or send an email to russthebus07@gmail.com. All we need is a theme, movie, director, or actor and a focus on sub 100-minute material. As long as the credits start before the 1:39:59 mark on the runtime bar, the movie qualifies.
